Edgemaster, which was founded by Jay Schreur in 2000, is dedicated to helping stylists and barbers avoid competitive motion injuries by teaching them how to match their hands to ergonomically-correct tools.

Five different triangles on the hand and the scissor have to be matched up before the scissor fits properly. When all five triangles match up, the bones on the top and side of the hand stay in alignment all the way to the wrist. A properly fitting scissor automatically relieves the pressure on muscles and joints.

There are lots of companies that try to fit scissors but don't know how to do it. If it's not done right, it can do more harm than good.

Schreur learned the company's scissor-fitting technique from a Japanese expert and adapted it to the Edgemaster International product line. He also consulted with several doctors and chiropractors who all agreed that Edgemaster is doing what they're supposed to be doing.

Because of rapidly growing demand, Schreur's two sons, Jason and Joe, recently joined the family business. The company now conducts approximately 450 classes per year in better beauty schools throughout the country.
